GEOPHYSICS APPLIED TO ARCHAEOLOGY

WORK EXPERIENCE TRAINING COURSES

In 2016-2017 MIPE held two practical training courses in Geophysics Applied to Archaeology for archaeologists and topographers of the Ministerio de Cultura del Perú who work at Chan Chan, Lambayeque and Marcahuamachuco. The course focused on the investigation of the subsoil by means of georadar; an initial explanation of the theoretical framework was followed by direct data acquisition in the field, after which the results obtained were processed in the laboratory. The instruments used were a US Radar 100 Series, made available by the Unidad Ejecutora di Lambayeque, and a GSSI – SIR System 4000 equipped with a 300 and 800 MHz multifrequency antenna loaned by the Unidad Ejecutora di Marcahuamachuco.
